Job Overview

Position Summary

At MNP, we pride ourselves on our dynamic and innovative culture that empowers our teams to excel. Our Agriculture division is seeking a dedicated Accounting Technician who is enthusiastic about the agricultural sector and possesses a keen insight into its unique challenges and opportunities.

As a vital member of our team, you will provide essential support across various areas, from primary producers to food and beverage enterprises, ensuring our clients achieve their financial goals. MNP is a leading national firm in Canada, offering comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory services, and we are committed to transforming business practices through our entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and audit of financial statements and tax filings
  • Manage government remittances and filings, as well as accounts receivable, payable, and payroll transactions
  • Establish and organize client files, assist in budget preparation, and support administrative tasks
  • Execute month-end and quarter-end closing procedures
  • Oversee and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities
  • Identify discrepancies and collaborate with management to resolve issues
  • Engage with government agencies regarding information requests and assessments
  • Work closely with the client engagement team to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Be open to travel as required for client engagements

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accounting certificate or a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a focus on accounting or finance preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Familiarity with T4 and T5 preparation and knowledge of personal and corporate taxation is advantageous
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and processes is a plus
  • Experience with accounting and tax software is beneficial
