About the Role

PCL Construction is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Student to join our Winnipeg District team. As an Estimating Student, you will play a crucial role in supporting our estimating team by reviewing quantity survey assignments, performing quantity surveys, and developing relationships with subcontractors.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize PCL's estimating manuals, systems, and forms to ensure accurate and efficient estimating processes.
  • Collaborate with lead estimators and chief estimators to review quantity survey assignments and provide support as needed.
  • Perform assigned quantity surveys and provide quantities of major purchase items to the purchasing department for pricing.
  • Transfer quantities to lead estimators and perform general subtrade solicitation duties.
  • Assist with bid document control and perform bid day assignments.
  • Visit job sites periodically to develop relationships with subcontractors and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the chief estimator.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in various computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and drafting.
