Overview

The Heavy Machinery Operator plays a crucial role in achieving excellence in construction operations. This position is responsible for executing tasks with a focus on safety and efficiency while maintaining a strong commitment to quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience in hoisting and rigging operations.
  • Proficient knowledge of equipment operations.
  • Trained in Ground Disturbances.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic machinery.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of civil construction practices.
  • Ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and clients.
  • Knowledge of trenching requirements and safety protocols.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; Class 3 with air endorsement is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Duties

  • Promote and uphold core corporate values.
  • Exemplify safe conduct and mentoring practices.
  • Engage in coaching and mentoring activities.
  • Participate in safety meetings with direct reports.
  • Review and ensure compliance with project safety and environmental guidelines.

Operational Duties

  • Collaborate with the Foreman to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Identify and communicate potential changes in project scope to the Foreman.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all team members.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate policies and procedures.
  • Familiarize with project timelines and milestones.
  • Provide after-hours support to field crews as necessary.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with the Foreman.
  • Manage daily equipment requirements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues to the Foreman.

Employment Requirements

  • Successful completion of D&A testing and a background check is mandatory for this position.
