Accounting Analyst Role

The Accounting Analyst is a key contributor to our Finance team, responsible for providing comprehensive accounting services to branches and subsidiaries. This role serves as a functional subject matter expert for accounting inquiries within the highly regulated and complex financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for the credit union and its subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to prepare year-end consolidated and unconsolidated financial statements, associated schedules, supporting working papers, and accompanying notes to the financial statements for the annual external audit.
  • Prepare monthly securitization reports and reconciliations, review existing accounting policies, procedures, and updates as necessary.
  • Assist with completing year-end CMHC audit for regulatory standards.
  • Prepare statistical reports for regulators and other external stakeholders (BCFSA, Central 1) for monitoring, information gathering, and system-wide sharing.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare financial reporting, analysis, and other materials required for Audit Committee and Board reporting.
  • Coordinate fixed asset accounting, including classification, setup, tracking, monthly balancing, ad-hoc queries, fixed asset budget, and year-end audit working papers.
  • Act as a backup for daily reconciliation, identify and investigate outstanding charges and credits.
  • Review monthly financial statements for assigned branches to identify anomalies and explain variances.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for BlueShore Financial subsidiaries.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual corporate budget.
  • Identify and review current processes to improve operational efficiencies and internal controls.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in supporting the accounting team and clients with accounting inquiries.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Enrolled in the CPA program.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience.
  • Solid knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
  • Experience in financial services is considered an asset.
