The Bylaw and Licensing Services Department of West Vancouver is currently in search of two permanent full-time Bylaw Enforcement Officers to join our esteemed team.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw & Licensing Services, this position entails inspectional, regulatory, and investigative duties associated with the enforcement of municipal bylaws, which encompass Traffic & Parking, Animal Control, Parks, Solid Waste, Noise, and Good Neighbour bylaws.
The role necessitates extensive public relations engagement, requiring actions to be taken with tact and diplomacy.The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and effective action in interpreting, explaining, and ensuring compliance with District bylaws.
Complex issues and policy matters will be escalated to a supervisor who will assess work performance for adherence to established policies and procedures and the efficacy of enforcement operations.
Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have post-secondary education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related discipline; possess strong written and verbal communication skills; have substantial experience and training in conducting investigations; and be familiar with attending adjudication proceedings.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.It is essential for the successful candidate to hold a valid Class 5 BC driver's license with a driving record reflecting responsible driving habits.
A police information check and a copy of credentials will be required from the successful candidate.Position Status:
Union (WVMEA) – Permanent Full-Time
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week (work hours and days may vary)
Starting Rate of Pay:
$34.29 per hour. This position features a pay structure with five incremental steps that increase annually.
