Position Overview

If you possess a knack for problem-solving, mechanical aptitude, creativity, and a desire to learn in a dynamic and rewarding environment, we have a Service Technician role that may interest you. Our Service team, comprising over 500 technicians across the United States and Canada, plays a crucial role in our success. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing equipment issues and determining the necessary actions to restore functionality. By delivering exceptional communication and craftsmanship, our technicians are invaluable assets to Tennant Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and tackle complex challenges by troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and combustion engine issues on Tennant products and similar competitor models.
  • Manage your territory by organizing your daily schedule, which includes contacting clients to arrange service activities and maintaining clear communication regarding service expectations, timelines, billing, and future needs.
  • Document all service activities and maintain accurate business reporting records.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all Tennant Company property, including your vehicle, tools, parts, inventory, and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, customer service, technical support, and fellow technicians to enhance your effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with Tennant Company driving policy.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in:
    • Troubleshooting and repairing combustion engines (LP, Diesel, or Gas).
    • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Utilizing hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
    • Operating a personal computer, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training in automotive, diesel, or electrical fields.
  • Experience with mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, heavy machinery).
  • Previous customer-facing roles.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds. Occasionally, lifting items up to 90 pounds may be required, with assistance available for heavier items.
  • Frequent activities include sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting.
  • Daily driving to customer sites, which may involve frequent driving periods exceeding 2 hours.
