We are currently seeking a:
Mechanical Construction Supervisor
The Mechanical Construction Supervisor is responsible for executing self-performed mechanical projects according to specifications and timelines, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to ensure project success.
Your Role:
In this position, you will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies, and procedures in daily operations.
- Review and consistently monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) completed by foremen to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among the Mechanical Division, Formwork Crews, Electrical Subcontractors, Site Superintendent, and Project Manager.
- Maintain open lines of communication with Owners, Architects, Suppliers, and Consultants.
- Oversee the activities of Kenaidan Mechanical Crews and subcontractors on-site.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to the crews regarding their performance.
- Ensure the quality of mechanical work performed meets established standards.
- Keep accurate records of cost codes and maintain familiarity with current and projected costs, verifying and auditing site expenses against the budget.
- Anticipate and address potential design and construction issues.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Mechanical Estimating team to develop and maintain the overall project schedule for Mechanical work, ensuring alignment with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Create a three-week work schedule and assist mechanical subcontractors in planning their tasks, providing direction as needed.
- Coordinate equipment and workforce to meet scheduling requirements.
- Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly billing and trade invoices.
- Review, verify, and approve time sheets, purchase orders, and work authorizations.
- Identify potential additional work opportunities with the Project Manager and track them accordingly.
- Participate in regular trade and safety meetings, ensuring minutes are documented, shared, and distributed.
- Maintain a daily job site diary.
- Provide weekly labor cost reports.
- Monitor and ensure the accuracy of as-built drawings.
- Actively manage the punch list and ensure completion.
- Assist in developing site logistics, including site access layout, temporary facilities, housekeeping enforcement, dewatering, and slope control as necessary.
- Continuously review Contract Drawings to identify discrepancies across various disciplines.
- Review and approve process pipe and spool drawings.
Qualifications:
- 10 to 15 years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- College Diploma or relevant trade certification.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide leadership to staff and subcontractors.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with scheduling software, plumbing codes, and estimating are advantageous.
- High level of technical understanding relevant to the construction industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with crews, trades, and suppliers.
- Strong organizational capabilities.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation applicable to the construction sector.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and trade contractor scopes.
