Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate, and confectionary products. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our Export facility, located in a major Canadian city, for the midnight shift.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines, including vertical and horizontal cartoners, gluers, tape machines, baggers, pallet wrappers, printers, labelers, and multi-weigh scale/filter systems, metal detectors.
- Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
- Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to size or processing angle of product.
- Regulate machine flow or speed.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor.
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
- Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides.
- Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly.
- Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders.
- Train Packaging Equipment Operators.
- Assist with production on lines as required.
- Be proficient in the use of the CMMS system for documenting repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts inventory management.
- 2-3 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging (i.e., shrink wrapping, overwrapping, and cartooning).
- Engineering/Technical Education background.
- Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset.
- Licensed Millwright not required.
- Troubleshooting ability and mechanically inclined.
- Technical mindset.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- High attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
