Position Overview:
The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key contributor within the Budgets & Forecast team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager. This role is essential for the financial oversight of monthly and quarterly forecasts, the annual budget, and the corporate performance scorecard. The analyst will also manage the administration of forecasting applications, gaining insights from operational and financial data across the company's diverse asset portfolio to prepare reports for executives and the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative for Budgets & Forecast in cross-departmental project teams to facilitate the annual budgeting process.
- Consolidate and analyze the annual budget for executive and Board presentations, including comparative analysis with previous forecasts.
- Generate monthly forecasts and quarterly materials for the Board utilizing the Forecast Consolidation Model, ensuring detailed financial analysis to clarify the impacts of model assumptions.
- Prepare updates for the corporate performance scorecard on a monthly basis for the executive team.
- Oversee BPC and Spotfire tools, managing access, data stewardship, and troubleshooting as necessary.
- Ensure that financial and operational data is communicated effectively, focusing on critical points for timely decision-making.
- Develop and interpret accounting processes proactively to align with financial reporting standards.
- Support corporate initiatives involving acquisitions, divestments, or other significant projects that require budget, forecast, and scorecard assessments.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to support strategic planning sessions, budget development, long-term business planning, and Investor Day preparations.
Candidate Profile:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with a CPA or CFA designation.
- Over 8 years of experience in business analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, or management and performance reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Self-motivated with a positive outlook and proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to engage and influence cross-functional teams, including senior leadership, and drive change through continuous improvement.
- Experience with SAP, BPC, Spotfire, and PlanningSpace is advantageous.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector is a plus.
