Position: Process Engineering SpecialistResponsibilities:
As a Process Engineering Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the execution of bench-scale experiments and the provision of scientific design data for the British Lithium initiative.
This position involves collaboration with design engineers and project stakeholders to define, specify, and mitigate risks associated with the process technology that will deliver lithium carbonate products to the market.
Your duties will include conducting bench-scale trials and experiments in the Metallurgical Laboratory and Pilot Plant areas, which encompass sample collection, analysis, data gathering, and documentation.
As a member of the Process Development team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory bench-scale metallurgical and process chemistry tests at either in-house facilities or external laboratories.
Key tasks include:
- Ensuring the safe operation of laboratory equipment.
- Contributing to sustaining capital and improvement capital requests.
- Logging and recording trial and analytical data.
- Preparing technical reports on the outcomes of bench-scale trials.
- Coordinating samples for analytical assays, including collection, labeling, and shipping.
- Ensuring the safe storage, usage, and disposal of chemicals in the laboratory, including updating COSHH records and contributing to COSHH Risk Assessments.
- Assisting in the review, development, and maintenance of QA/QC policies for sample collection, testing, and analysis, ensuring proper chain of custody.
- Developing experimental programs to support process engineering design activities.
- Producing technical memoranda, progress reports, and technical report sections for key project phases.
- Conducting sample collection, preparation, drying, filtration, splitting, crushing, pulverizing, and pXRF testing.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in mineral and chemical process technologies within a mining context, along with a background in a process laboratory environment, and knowledge of inorganic chemical processes and lithium chemistries.
Additionally, a working knowledge of process design for mineral and chemical processes is essential.
During periods of heightened operational activity or reduced staffing, you may be required to undertake various tasks to support the project, provided you have the necessary competencies for specialized tasks.
