Job Summary
Arrow Transportation Systems Inc is seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer to join our team at our biomass power generation facility in Fort St. James, BC. As a Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the power plant and related auxiliary equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety requirements are met or exceeded
- Perform related duties to ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the plant and outside operations
- Closely liaise and communicate with staff and maintenance department to ensure consistent operations of the steam plant and auxiliary equipment
- Facilitate the reliable supply of services to the plant
- Direct shift crew
- Operate a wide variety of equipment
- Provide operational expertise to resolve frequently changing process conditions
- Identify plant improvements
- Ensure good communication and cooperation with corporate teams
- Ensure good communication with stakeholder representatives
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
- Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence
Requirements
- BC or interprovincial 2nd Class Power Engineering certificate or you are a 3rd Class Power Engineer with papers on Second
- Minimum five years of experience as a power engineer in a biomass plant
- Experience with power plant operations and working with boilers, pulp mills, or biomass
- Must be familiar with PLC and control systems
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
- Confined space experience and lock out training
- Strong safety mindset
- Excellent work ethic and positive team attitude
- Internal and external customer service skills
- Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
- Strong computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
- Strong leadership and training abilities
- Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve
- Organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to acquire new skills and utilize technology to streamline processes
- Proven Initiative and quality oriented

- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (day and night shifts)
