About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Culinary Team Member to join our fast-paced culinary team at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre. As a Jr Sous Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of an elevated dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in overseeing the operation of the assigned kitchen, working closely with the Sous Chef to prepare and deliver high-quality food and beverages.
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed for assigned kitchen, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist Culinary Leadership in ensuring the culinary team adheres to the schedule, including breaks, and provides ongoing guidance to team members as they continue their professional development.
  • Ensure quality execution of menu items, delivered promptly and presented to specification, meeting the high standards of our hotel.
  • Execute the correct preparation of all special dietary requests, as per established standards and communication with Culinary Leadership.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of menu items during main meal periods, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
Requirements
  • 3-4 years of previous culinary experience, preferably within a Hotel/Resort environment.
  • One year of production and Banquet experience is an asset.
  • Working towards Red seal Certification or a degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Holds a current Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
  • Has a complete understanding of all aspects of kitchen operations.
  • Is self-disciplined with a sincere desire to provide an elevated guest experience.
  • Self-starts on tasks and can respond to varying business volumes as they relate to impacts on the kitchen.
  • Is physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifting heavy loads of around 20kg.
