Job Summary:

The Senior Operations Manager - Chief Engineer is accountable for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the power plant and related equipment associated with the various buildings of the Chinook Regional Hospital. This position is responsible for creating a culture that embodies the organization's values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of technical professionals in developing and implementing operational and maintenance processes in compliance with regulatory bodies, best practices, and organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including direct reports, peers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and municipal and provincial authorities.
  • Ensure that the power plant and associated equipment are operated and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements, industry-recognized best practices, and organizational procedures.
  • Manage a team of unionized facility operations and trades staff in the operation and maintenance of a second-class power plant and associated equipment.
  • Accountable for safety and the management of operational and infrastructure renewal budgets.
  • Participate in various committees and serve as Heliport Operations Managers.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with other team leaders.

Requirements:

  • Competent in the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Competent in the development of preventative maintenance of power plant equipment and associated systems.
  • Skilled in developing alliances with stakeholders.
  • Change management skills.
  • Proven success in leading a high-functioning team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a chief engineer of a third-class power plant.
  • 10 years of experience in the management of staff, 5 of which were in a unionized environment.
