About the Role

The Controller will play a critical role in ensuring financial controls are in place, preparing financial information to manage the Cambridge business, and advising and supporting management at both the local and SBU level. This position will support plant management with financial data and analysis to assist in achieving plant and corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial advice and support to Cambridge plant management in their critical business decision-making processes.
  • Direct all essential accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner, developing methods to provide management with information vital to the attainment of business objectives.
  • Prepare labour efficiency and productivity reporting.
  • Report and analyze results to the gross profit level with emphasis on controllable spending, misses to flex AOP, and manufacturing variances.
  • Participate in identifying and implementing cost reductions and working capital improvements.
  • Support corporate accounting by assuming lead roles in both strategic and non-strategic initiatives as required.
  • Prepare and present the annual AOP.
  • Manage the standard cost system.
  • Manage and develop Cambridge accounting staff.
  • Capital forecasting and analysis.
  • Support the EVA decision-making process.
  • Manage the general ledger account reconciliation process.
  • Ensure all financial models/information are submitted as required, by due date/time.
  • Investigate annual scientific research and development tax credits.
  • Manage SOX internal controls compliance through process documentation, evaluating design effectiveness; develops and implements action plans to correct control gaps; signs off on process risks and controls.
  • Support corporate tax department by preparing tax return package and maintaining transfer-pricing policy.
  • Coordinate internal/external audits and maintain working papers.
  • Comply with requirements and assist in maintenance of the necessary quality standards (QS9000/ISO/TS16949/ISO14001) to ensure re-certification.
  • Collect and report monitoring data in support of the EHS management system.
  • Strive towards meeting company EHS goals.
  • Understand and follow all EHS policies.
  • Participate on EHS teams and committees.
  • Participate and promote EHS activities.
  • Report opportunities for improvement and any EHS issues.
  • Stop work activities that create EHS hazards.

Requirements

  • Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA)
  • Minimum 5 years, preferably 7 to 12 years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have knowledge of SAP (ERP system)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to deliver professional presentations.
  • Required to work independently, under pressure, with the ability to shift priorities when required.
  • Must be able to successfully handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
