About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Liberty Utilities. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our data.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Data Ingestion and Processing

Design, develop, and implement efficient data pipelines for market, transactional, and generation data.

Data Transformation and Integration

Transform raw data into a format usable by downstream applications, serving both analytical and operational use cases.

Data Governance and Security

Organize, implement, and enforce correct data collection policies and methods, ensuring the proper functioning of data collection software and applications.

Data Quality and Control

Ensure data collection procedures are in line with all relevant rules and guidelines, gathering fundamental power market, transactional, and generation data from multiple sources/systems.

API Development and Integration

Create and integrate APIs to support data exchange and visualization.

Data Wrangling and Security

Responsible for data wrangling, extraction, data security, discovery, and control, demonstrating best practices in data science and software development.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate with and across teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies.

Testing and Quality Assurance

Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other team members to ensure code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance.

Reporting and Visualization

Support the development and automation of standardized reports and ensure output of data is accurate and in a useful format for end-use customers.

Requirements
  1. Education and Experience

Preferable Master's Degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years in a data engineer or data analyst role.

Technical Skills

Advanced programming knowledge, experience with Snowflake's infrastructure, and advanced skills in Python and Excel. Strong data structure, data modeling, and analysis skills, including in-depth knowledge of SQL, R, and Python coding.

Power Market Fundamentals

Knowledge of power market fundamentals (supply, demand, reserve margins, forward/settled prices) is preferred but not a requirement.

Soft Skills

High degree of motivation and flexibility, ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
