About Northern Tier High Adventure Program
We are a national high adventure program for youth, specializing in wilderness canoe treks in the Boundary Waters (Minnesota) and Canada as well as winter camping treks. During the summer, Scouts from our three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests, and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario, and Northeast Manitoba. Our guiding values are the Scout Oath and Law, and we strive to provide life-changing experiences tailored specifically for scout units.
We employ hundreds of staff every year. Staff members come from all over the world and bring with them unique skills and talents. Our diverse and qualified staff work as a team and annually deliver the wilderness experience of a lifetime to thousands of youth and adults.
A Day in the Life of a Summer Transportation Specialist
As a Transportation Specialist, you will be working with our maintenance department to ensure that vehicles and trailers receive weekly and daily inspections. You'll also make sure all safety equipment is functional and drive 15-passenger vans with or without trailers. Your shuttles will range in distance from local entry points to round trips to airports. Your days working with staff and Scouts, aged , are filled with adventure. You'll have the opportunity to explore the Northwoods via van while ensuring the safety of our participants and interacting directly with Scouts. This is one summer that you will never forget and a job that can only be described as rewarding.
Qualifications for a Summer Transportation Specialist
- Age 21 or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Passion for safety culture
- Clear communication and organization skills
- Accuracy and thoroughness in work
- A good driving record
