About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions department, you will provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.

The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with experience in mental health and addictions. You will have excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM. Additionally, you will have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Social Work degree, be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body, and have at least one year of post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addictions. You will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships, and a demonstrated ability to make sound and reliable clinical decisions.

We offer a competitive salary of $42.01 hourly and a permanent part-time position with 60% FTE and 45 hours biweekly. If you are a motivated and compassionate individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, we encourage you to apply.
