Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a qualified and experienced Mental Health Therapist (MHT) with a robust background in addiction treatment. The MHT will operate within a structured clinical environment, focusing on enhancing recovery outcomes for individuals facing challenges related to substance use and gambling. This role emphasizes the integration of mental health care into addiction recovery, ensuring that clients with co-occurring mental health disorders receive comprehensive treatment plans and interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evidence-based assessments and develop collaborative care plans tailored to individual client needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and therapeutic support in both individual and group settings.
  • Utilize trauma-informed therapeutic modalities to address a variety of mental health issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and treatment progress.
  • Facilitate referrals for ongoing mental health support within the community.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work (clinical specialization), Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing, with relevant training in mental health assessment and psychotherapy. Registration with the appropriate Alberta regulatory college is required.

Additional Qualifications:

Authorization to perform mental health psycho-social interventions is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with DSM diagnoses and possess a solid understanding of interventions for clients with substance use concerns.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in facilitating both individual and group therapy within adult mental health settings, as well as in addiction treatment environments, is highly desirable. Formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) will be considered an asset.
