Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Canfor's Radium, BC Sawmill. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy-duty equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance checks on heavy-duty equipment, including Taylor, Kalmar, and Warehouse forklifts, IMCO Chip trailers, 966K loader, 980H loader, and 988H loader.
  • Diagnostic and Repair Services: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Technical Expertise: Identify and troubleshoot problems with engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other components of heavy-duty equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used, repairs made, and hours worked. Provide detailed reports on the condition of equipment, maintenance performed, and recommendations for future actions.
  • Vendor Communication: Contact vendors to provide parts quotes and lead times, communicating this with your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Red Seal Certification: Possess a valid Red Seal certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Experience and Skills: Have experience with hydraulics and welding, and possess superior troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Knowledge of Cat, Kalmar, and Taylor equipment is an asset.
