Position Overview

The Accounting Specialist at Sugar Bakery Halifax will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management: Calculate and prepare cheques for employee payroll.
  • Asset Management: Assess fixed assets and their depreciation.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and balance various accounts using both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee general ledgers and prepare financial statements.
  • Journal Entries: Post journal entries accurately.
  • Reporting: Prepare statistical, financial, and accounting reports as needed.
  • Tax Preparation: Prepare and file tax returns.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Administrative Support: Schedule and confirm appointments, order office supplies, and assist with workflow management.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial documents and reports for insights.
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries both in writing and verbally, including handling telephone calls and messages.

Qualifications
