Collaborating closely with the Customer Insights Data and Analytics teams, alongside our IT partners, the Data and Analytics Technology team is dedicated to fulfilling the bank's Data and Analytics requirements through effective tooling, project management, and IT operational support. The Cloud Support Engineer position focuses on ensuring the reliability, monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting of bank-wide initiatives backed by Data and Analytics Technology. This role encompasses platform development, tooling, integration, process automation, enhancement of existing platforms, and the execution of new projects.
Is this position a fit for you? In this role, you will:- Leadership and Direction: Offer clear guidance to the team, establish objectives, and hold the team accountable for their outcomes. Align team objectives with the overarching goals of the Platform.
- Technical Oversight: Gain a comprehensive understanding of GCP services, Platform architecture, and industry best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality support for platform users, adhering to established SLAs and service goals.
- Process Enhancements: Continuously refine Platform processes and Standard Operating Procedures to achieve efficiency and automation.
- Client Relations: Build strong relationships with the platform user community. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams within the organization.
- Advanced Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve performance issues to maintain optimal system functionality.
- Site Reliability: Analyze, triage, and promptly resolve Platform issues to meet site reliability targets.
- Incident Management: Provide support during significant incidents, including after-hours assistance. Develop strategies for incident response and user communication.
- Observability Tools Development: Design, build, and implement cloud logging and monitoring solutions, enhancing current systems for early issue detection.
- Cloud Managed Application Development: Create and implement solutions utilizing standard public cloud services such as Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Vertex AI Notebooks, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions, employing Terraform Modules.
- Release Control Management: Maintain and enhance the Release Control Management pipeline utilizing Terraform, Cloud Build, and GitHub Actions, as well as Bitbucket/GitHub repositories.
- Client Pipeline Management: Implement CI/CD processes by designing industry-standard Cloud Build for deploying Infrastructure and analytics workloads using Terraform, Docker, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Artifact Registry, and other build/deployment activities.
- Credential Security: Establish Hashicorp Vault and Secret Manager for secure credential management. Integrate security solutions with client interfaces.
- Client User Acceptance Testing: Lead clients through user acceptance testing for component and base image upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions.
- Vendor and Technical Support Interaction: Regularly engage with product vendors and technical support to fine-tune and troubleshoot software components, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers in best practices for building, deploying, testing, and supporting services, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
We would be eager to collaborate with you if you have experience in:
- Managing and supporting platforms and applications with extensive user bases is essential.
- Utilizing Public Cloud services. GCP certification (GCP Cloud Associate) is preferred.
- Employing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Utilizing DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and Terraform Cloud is advantageous.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, or Java is crucial for automating tasks, scripting, and developing infrastructure as code.
- Experience with Docker is required, including setting up and managing Docker registries and creating Dockerfiles for custom images.
- Setting up Kubernetes or similar platforms on-premise/cloud (On-prem Rancher experience is a plus).
- A general understanding of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and how to optimize them for expedited software delivery.
- Knowledge of overlay networking for inter-container communications across different nodes and external servers/infrastructure.
- Building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Artifactory, etc., to reduce cycle times and ensure quality.
- Automating system deployments and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Saltstack.
- Virtualization experience with tools like VirtualBox, Hyper-V, Docker, VMware, etc.
- Strong scripting skills (i.e., shell scripting, Python, Perl, Ansible) for automation purposes.
- Working experience with source control systems like Git.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure/GCP/AWS.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
