About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team in Financial Services at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for carrying out assigned functional accounting and maintaining the integrity of information within the accounting subsystems.

You will respond to and serve as a first point of contact for customers, ensuring that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority, such as our vision, mission, values, strategic directions, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration, are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that you do and through the messages you deliver.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting and experience working in a computerized environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A graduate degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of one year of accounting experience in a computerized environment in the past five years
  • Experience working within the functional area of Accounts Receivable is preferred
  • Experience working within Meditech, STAR, and SAP is an asset
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is an asset
  • Experience working within MS Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook), accounting software
  • Ability to work independently, with continual interruptions, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to use general office equipment
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills and commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Travel to other sites may be required

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 70-hour bi-weekly schedule. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

The hourly rate for this position is $27.53.
