Job Title: Physiotherapist

Job Summary:

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team at the UHN Reactivation Care Centre. As a Physiotherapist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life of patients by planning and implementing individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning and cardio-respiratory health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather patient information, including observing and interviewing the patient and essential care partners, reviewing and interpreting pertinent patient documentation and health records, and attending and participating in rounds, clinics, and case management meetings.
  • Conduct initial screening and both formal and informal assessment protocols to assess patients' physical, functional, psychosocial, perceptual, and cognitive status.
  • Analyze all collected data to develop a clinical impression, formulate a treatment plan, and consultation recommendations.
  • Communicate the results of the assessment/clinical impression to the patient, essential care partners, and healthcare team, and implement modifications and shifts in individualized treatment programs as needed.
  • Coordinate and/or participate in the education of students/learners, hospital staff, and the community, and maintain excellence in the provision of physiotherapy services through ongoing professional development.
  • Lead and/or participate in research studies related to physiotherapy.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality indicators as per the Quality Programs of Allied Health, the Clinical Unit, or Corporate Program of the University Health Network.
  • Critically appraise, choose, and implement outcome measures to assess the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Science (Physiotherapy) or recognized equivalent based on Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Minimum one year related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency, and infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Recognizes and acts within the scope and limitations of the physiotherapist.
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner.
  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred.
