Position Overview

The Application Configuration Specialist plays a crucial role in optimizing the use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and bespoke software systems. This position involves enhancing configurations, providing support and training, and ensuring quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and gather business requirements to identify configuration needs for COTS or custom applications.
  • Set up software applications according to specified requirements, including defining user roles, permissions, workflows, and other essential settings.
  • Customize and modify applications to meet the organization's unique requirements, which may involve scripting or coding.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure that configurations and customizations function correctly without introducing issues.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation regarding configurations, customizations, and modifications made to the application.
  • Provide ongoing support, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance and updates to the application.
  • Train end-users and stakeholders on effective utilization of the configured application.
  • Collaborate closely with IT professionals, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure the application aligns with business processes and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in application configuration and support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Technical expertise in configuring enterprise-level COTS software.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining workflows, business rules, and reports.
  • Solid understanding of application security models.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and IT change management processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with SQL queries and procedures is advantageous.
