Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Supervisor to join our team at Gate Gourmet. As a key member of our Operations Leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Transport Team, which consists of over 80 drivers working in a fast-paced and time-sensitive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a labour planner, team leads, drivers, and driver assistants to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and implement short and long-term goals for the department to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Validate drivers' daily schedules and confirm operations are executing on the labour plan to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform airside ramp safety audits to ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all employees are in compliance with Transport Canada, YVR Airport Authority security, and badging requirements.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles are kept to company standards, including regular interior and exterior cleaning.
  • Lead safety, quality, and compliance initiatives to meet airline customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare management reports, such as incident reports and labor reports, as required.
  • Train and monitor employees on Gate Gourmet standard operating procedures to ensure maximum safety and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, preferably in business or operations management, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a labour-intensive operation.
  • Ability to pass Transport Canada security screening and obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
  • Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operating Permit (AVOP license) to drive airside while managing operations.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a staff of over 80 hourly employees.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide feedback and coaching to employees.
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Working Environment:

This is a 24/7 operation, and the successful candidate must be able to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
