Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DZ Driver to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a DZ Driver, you will play a critical role in supporting our growing business by providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safe and efficient collection and processing of waste and recyclables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Satisfy customer needs for service, ensuring that service is completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition and to identify any potential issues.
  • Route Completion: Complete assigned daily routes as directed by the Operations Manager, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Waste Collection and Processing: Drive to customer sites, set lifting and emptying bins into the front-end vehicle, and return the bin to the original location. Transfer waste to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location.
  • Driver Check-Ins: Perform daily driver check-ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all protocols are followed while dumping loads at municipal recycling/waste facilities, and that all safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Additional Responsibilities: May be required to climb up the ladder on the truck to inspect loads, and may perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Education: Completion of high school; post-secondary courses or diploma considered an asset.
  • Experience: 1-2 years driving experience in the waste industry.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong customer focus, proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks, and knowledge of the industry an asset.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of driving experience in a DZ vehicle, experience with Roll Off and Front End vehicles.
