The Occupational Therapist operates under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Services Manager. This professional collaborates with clients, their families, and caregivers to enhance, restore, and maintain optimal functioning in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. The OT is responsible for providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services across various settings, including hospitals, client residences, and community environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized treatment plans and objectives in partnership with clients.
- Manage a diverse caseload independently while employing clinical judgment to prioritize daily challenges.
- Deliver education and support to clients, families, and caregivers to promote understanding and engagement.
- Collaborate as a vital member of both the occupational therapy clinical team and the broader healthcare team.
- Contribute to the training and supervision of OT students and assistants, fostering a learning environment.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of Nova Scotia Health Authority and maintain compliance with the standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy is required.
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body is essential.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate educational initiatives and engage positively with clients and healthcare professionals.
- A commitment to fostering a respectful culture that emphasizes safety, ethical practices, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating effective planning and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service and facility.
- Competence in additional languages is advantageous, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time long assignment with a bi-weekly schedule of 75 hours.
- Involves shift work and on-call responsibilities.
Compensation:
The hourly wage is $42.06. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
