Key Responsibilities:- Provide support to supervisors, foremen, and workers in the field to ensure compliance with Valard's Health and Safety Manual and applicable legislation.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring all necessary safety procedures are in place and followed.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Communicate safety expectations and requirements to all site staff and ensure they are aware of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Develop and maintain a safety board with current postings, including health and safety policies, inspection and audit results, and project hazard assessments.
- Prepare and participate in audits, such as 18001 and COR, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review and analyze incident reports to identify trends and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and maintain a corrective action log and communicate with project managers and supervisors to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Facilitate weekly safety meetings, capture minutes, and action items, and follow up on action items to completion.
- Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports and communicate with project managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- National Construction Safety Officer Certification or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) College or University Certificate or diploma program.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Minimum 3 years Health and Safety experience in a construction environment.
- Excellent incident investigation skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform under stressful conditions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
