The Physiotherapist II - Clinical Lead plays a crucial role within our physiotherapy services, ensuring that clinical practices in the designated service area are centered around the needs of families and clients while adhering to established physiotherapy standards.
In this position, you will oversee the daily operations of inpatient physiotherapy services, working both autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include making informed clinical decisions regarding patient assessments, interventions, discharges, and follow-ups. You will also provide guidance on complex clinical cases and lead initiatives to guarantee safe, efficient, and effective care for clients.
As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary team, showcasing initiative, adaptability, and flexibility to address varying clinical and operational demands. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential as you participate in program development and operational planning. You will also engage in lifelong learning and work closely with managers and discipline leads, representing the service on relevant committees as necessary.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, your role will encompass the coordination of physiotherapy and allied health services. You will supervise students and team members as required, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. Daily clinical decisions regarding patient needs will be part of your responsibilities, including assessments, interventions, discharges, and follow-ups.
You will be expected to advise team members on complex clinical situations and provide clinical leadership within your program or service area, ensuring that care delivery is safe, efficient, and effective. Your practice will be grounded in evidence-based approaches, in compliance with Alberta's legislation, regulations, and professional standards.
Additionally, you will manage the daily operations of your assigned service area, monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, and assisting medical staff with caseload management. Your role will also involve completing chart audits and providing feedback to staff. Participation in program development and operational planning, as well as representation of the department on committees, will be key components of your position.

All Physiotherapists have access to a network of experienced clinicians across the province, allowing for collaboration and support in delivering high-quality care.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program with relevant experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of coursework related to team dynamics, communication, and leadership is preferred. Experience in a clinical leadership capacity is considered an asset. AADL authorization may be required for certain services.
