Kinectrics supports the development and deployment of new nuclear power facilities and oversees life extension projects for existing plants globally. The successful candidate will engage in the design of electrical systems and components within both traditional and innovative nuclear technology initiatives. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, the role will focus on supporting design efforts at various sites.

Accountabilities: Your Impact

You will provide electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other clients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development of conceptual and detailed equipment designs throughout a structured design process.
  • Offering technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering team members.
  • Conducting electrical power distribution design and analysis for operational nuclear and industrial facilities.
  • Performing condition assessments of electrical equipment, including transformers, breakers, and generators.
  • Creating life cycle plans, including inspection and testing protocols.
  • Executing engineering change design and analysis in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conducting electrical analysis and equipment selection.
  • Collaborating with construction and procurement partners and utility stakeholders throughout the design project lifecycle.
  • Providing field support for multi-disciplinary plant design modifications.
  • Leading design teams and providing technical direction on projects.
  • Understanding client challenges and determining effective solutions.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in your field of expertise.
  • Traveling to client sites as required.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering.
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) designation or eligibility.
  • Proven experience in electrical design and analysis for power distribution, particularly in nuclear settings.
  • Strong understanding of power upgrades and system protection.
  • Experience in condition assessments of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of life cycle management for electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards applicable to nuclear and conventional plants.
  • Project management experience and ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of nuclear power plant systems and processes is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to lead complex projects.
  • Motivated to work collaboratively with engineering professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Security clearance for OPG and Bruce Power is an asset.
