The Director of Global Health Programs will spearhead the creation and execution of a robust communications strategy for the organization's global health initiatives, particularly focusing on critical programs in malaria. This role is pivotal in enhancing awareness, engagement, and business impact through effective communication across various channels, while establishing the organization as a frontrunner in tackling pressing global health issues.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading the comprehensive development and implementation of communication strategies for significant global health programs, particularly malaria, to achieve substantial business outcomes.
- Crafting and executing campaign-oriented communications to boost awareness and engagement in essential global health program areas.
- Managing communications related to the pipeline of global health pharmaceuticals, including announcements of forthcoming drug launches and other significant milestones.
- Formulating communication strategies with a newsroom approach and editorial focus to effectively engage stakeholders across all channels, from internal digital platforms to media outlets.
- Cultivating relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging regarding Global Health programs and fostering long-term connections with media in the global health sector.
- Overseeing reactive communications and managing issues pertaining to global health programs, ensuring prompt and effective responses to media inquiries and emerging challenges.
- Directing the creation and execution of a comprehensive communications plan for the organization.
- Staying informed on pivotal policy matters affecting global health and integrating this knowledge into communication strategies.
- Demonstrating a forward-thinking mindset by utilizing insights to guide strategy and assess progress.
- Gaining a profound understanding of key audiences and stakeholder groups to tailor communications effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in English is essential, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive experience in communications, particularly in global health, pharmaceutical communication, or related sectors.
- Proven success in developing and executing impactful communication strategies and campaigns for global health initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in media relations, proactive communications, and crisis management.
- Strong analytical skills with the capability to interpret data and insights to inform decision-making and evaluate communication strategies.
- Established ability to build and maintain relationships with media and key stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Experience in consultancy is advantageous.
