Position Overview:
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within the hospital premises. Your role will involve a combination of proactive and reactive measures to maintain a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular security patrols and respond promptly to incidents.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, assisting individuals who may be in distress or require medical attention.
- Maintain physical fitness to effectively perform duties that require prolonged standing and walking.
- Execute a variety of preventative and responsive tasks, including interior and exterior patrols of the hospital and surrounding areas.
- Utilize appropriate measures as directed under relevant legislation when necessary.
- Provide escort services for staff and visitors upon request.
- Assist with motor vehicle needs for staff and visitors as required.
- Keep accurate logs and documentation of all activities and service calls during your shift.
- Prepare detailed reports following investigations or significant occurrences in a timely manner.
- Investigate incidents, manage report writing, and review CCTV footage as needed.
- Address rule violations and enforce compliance, using necessary force when warranted.
- Handle administrative tasks such as ID badge issuance, key management, and lost and found services.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior, providing high-quality customer service.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals across various social levels.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clinical staff and the public, maintaining authority and professionalism.
- Exhibit composure in high-pressure situations and when interacting with individuals in urgent circumstances.
- Produce clear, concise, and legible reports.
- Report any concerns or issues to the Site Coordinator promptly.
Qualifications:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Educational background in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services.
- Proof of double Covid Vaccination.
- Immunization Record including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests.
- Current First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
Educational Background:
- Minimum of a Police Foundations Diploma or equivalent experience in law enforcement.
Certification Requirements:
- Immunization Record.
- COVID Double Vaccinated.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
- Valid Ontario Security License.
