Key Responsibilities
  • Examine scripts to understand costume requirements based on the setting, time period, and character characteristics.
  • Perform thorough research on historical contexts and different cultural backgrounds.
  • Generate costume ideas for characters.
  • Create preliminary costume sketches and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Finalize designs, considering fabrics, styles, and color palettes.
  • Collaborate with costume manufacturers to realize your sketches.
  • Source or acquire ready-made costumes when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with budget limitations.
  • Supervise fittings and rehearsal sessions.
  • Oversee the return, storage, or disposal of costumes after production.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Costume Designer or in a similar capacity.
  • Expertise in design, sewing, and textile knowledge.
  • Awareness of various styles and cultural/historical influences.
  • Strong inclination towards comprehensive research.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative approach with a strong emphasis on detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Completion of secondary education; a Bachelor's degree in fashion design or a related discipline is preferred.
