Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our specimen collection process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Greet and Prepare Patients: Greet patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  2. Perform Phlebotomies and Special Test Collections: Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings. Also, perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
  3. Maintain Client Relationships: Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  4. Data Entry and Specimen Preparation: Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results. Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Training: Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  2. Computer Skills: Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  3. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, clients, and colleagues.
