About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Analyst - Data Insights to join our team at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a critical role in providing expert analytics and support on high-profile and confidential procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Technical Support: Supply market data, research current consumption, and project future spend to support high-risk, confidential, and outsourcing procurement activities.
  • Build Evaluation and Consensus Documents: Develop and maintain evaluation and consensus documents to support the procurement process.
  • Develop and Distribute Reports: Create and distribute various specialized regular and ad-hoc reports, including supplier/provider report cards, to internal stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and Provide Advice: Identify potential risk and quality management issues and provide recommendations to management as appropriate.
Research, Advise, and Support
  • Identify Trends and Opportunities: Research and identify trends that may prompt a policy review or an amendment to internal and external payment processes.
  • Document and Transfer Categories: Document new categories and assist in transferring them to Category Analysts.
  • Verify and Recover Over-Spend: Verify that supplier/provider payments reflect negotiated pricing and initiate recovery of over-spend.
  • Create and Analyze Reports: Create supplier reports to capture supplier performance metrics, create scorecards, input supplier data, and analyze and report on supplier performance.
Design, Develop, and Enhance Support Systems
  • Investigate and Develop IT Tools: Investigate and develop information technology tools to capture data, create new databases, and write computer programs to extract and manipulate data from existing databases or data warehouses.
  • Access and Compile Data: Access and compile collected data into an appropriate format for data analysis, evaluation, reporting, and projection modeling.
Provide Technical Advice and Guidance
  • Work Collaboratively: Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including Procurement Services, Health Services, Business Technology Services, and Specialized Claims Services.
  • Review and Ensure Methodology: Review the work of Category Analysts to ensure proper methodology and rigor is applied to work.
  • Ensure Data and Analysis: Ensure data and analysis are methodologically sound and meet commonly accepted standards in the statistics gathering/analysis field.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or Mathematics; Certification in Procurement and/or Business Analysis is preferred.
  • Experience: 4 years of experience in business analytics, computer systems, problem-solving, etc.
  • Skills: Background in various programming languages and working with Microsoft Office, Cognos, PeopleSoft, and other reporting tools; certification in various programming languages (e.g., SQL, VBA, Python, PHP, Java, JavaScript) preferred.
