Position Overview:
Genesis Advanced Technology is looking for a skilled CMM Programmer/Operator to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to guarantee accurate measurements and uphold quality standards for machined components. This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and CAD models, create inspection plans, and conduct first article inspections. The CMM Programmer/Operator will also maintain CMM work instructions, document inspection outcomes, and ensure the regular calibration of measurement instruments.
Alongside CMM duties, there will be opportunities to participate in various machine shop tasks and contribute to engineering design projects. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication with team members are vital for success in this role. A dedication to maintaining high-quality standards and a commitment to ongoing learning in metrology and machining are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop quality control processes by reviewing work orders, CAD models, drawings, materials, specifications, reference planes, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Ensure safe operations by following safety protocols and maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
- Support continuity among shifts by documenting and sharing actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Record actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Adapt to changes in organizational priorities by maintaining a flexible approach to project work, whether independently or as part of a team.
- Enhance job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities and by reading technical literature.
- Operate the CMM machine and maintain work instructions for the setup and inspection of components.
- Execute programming for the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, models, and other materials to ascertain specifications.
- Collect and evaluate inspection data, performing necessary calculations to determine inspection results and conduct first article inspections.
- Communicate pertinent information to all team members, including inspection results, part status, updates, and specific instructions, while participating in PFMEA activities.
- Carry out additional quality control tasks and CMM inspections as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate calibration of measurement tools to maintain compliance with industry standards and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in CMM programming (Zeiss Calypso).
- Mastery of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- CNC machinist experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to interpret CAD models and technical drawings.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
- Effective communication and documentation abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required):
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Expertise in GibbsCAM or equivalent CAM software.
- Experience in operating multi-axis CNC machines.
