Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nursing Assistant to join our Geriatric Care team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality care and support to patients with mental health needs in a geriatric setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate as an active member of the treatment team, carrying out specific therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions with patients based on recovery/treatment plans.
  • Provide patients with supervision and guidance, assistance with personal care, comfort, and support in going about daily living, therapeutic, and recreational activities in a safe manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote patient-centered care and well-being.
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive environment by maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to infection control protocols, and reporting any concerns or incidents to supervisors.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course preferred.
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written).
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
Working Conditions

This position involves extensive physical activity, such as lifting, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of energy and focus throughout their shift.
