Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive cost accounting and budgeting tasks for a designated operational group, managing a variety of financial activities in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Business Leaders and Managers to coordinate and develop operational unit budgets, which includes:
- Gathering and analyzing historical cost and activity data to create budget forecasts for review and approval;
- Adjusting projections for accuracy, supported by justifications based on historical and current financial conditions;
- Preparing justifications for various budget items, including operating and maintenance costs, capital expenditure forecasts, and future business initiatives.
- Prepares regular performance and variance analyses in conjunction with Business Leaders and Managers, participating in the review of activities, unit costs, and program expenditures to clarify variances and suggest corrective measures.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting and financial systems, policies, and procedures.
- Advises the operational group on the application of accounting and financial procedures to enhance understanding and effective utilization of financial reports.
- Contributes to the formulation of recommendations aimed at improving or establishing financial policies, reporting formats, and related matters.
- Sets up and reviews work orders, job costing entries, journal vouchers, and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Conducts research and special analyses related to operational activities, including:
- Preparing ad-hoc reports for regulatory studies and other special projects;
- Maintaining statistical databases and financial spreadsheets, summarizing data in a clear presentation format;
- Preparing and delivering written, graphical, and oral reports to support budget preparation, variance analysis, and other special initiatives.
- Engages in the development of financial and management information systems, providing user input on system requirements, testing enhancements, and conducting training sessions as needed.
- Performs various related duties such as local purchasing and facilities management as appropriate to assigned operational areas.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in statistical analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and related analytical techniques.
- Strong understanding of computer systems operations and various software applications utilized in the department (SAP, SharePoint, BW Reports, BI, and MS Office Suite).
