Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Supervisor to join our team at Holcim. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and processes, while also driving business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Management
    • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop plans to mitigate risks.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
    • Provide safety training to technicians and other personnel.
  • Product Performance
    • Develop and maintain quality standards for asphalt products.
    • Collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate and efficient processes.
    • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate results to stakeholders.
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Develop and maintain a database of case studies.
    • Track and report quality incidents (QIRs).
    • Collaborate with sales teams to review project specifications and recommend suitable mixes.
    • Collaborate with technical performance teams to prepare and present technical documents for customer requests.
    • Develop, evaluate, and adjust asphalt mixtures and ensure their addition to SAP.
    • Monitor and respond to minimum sampling frequencies established in the quality plan.
    • Participate in daily quality control testing when required.
  • Quality Management and Certifications
    • Support the preparation and submission of LEED documentation.
    • Manage daily activities of technical personnel.
    • Participate in or lead safety audits and develop action plans for quality improvement.
    • Lead certification activities for quarry and paving plant (preparation and audit).
    • Prepare statistical analyses of plant operational performance and lead investigation efforts to determine primary causes of deviations and implement corrective actions.
    • Monitor and perform equipment calibration in laboratories and plants, as per established frequencies. Conduct impact studies when non-conformity is detected.
  • Technical Support
    • Support sales and product teams in recommending suitable replacement products, promoting marketing/sales initiatives, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
    • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and submit documentation requested by customers, in accordance with Lafarge's policy.
    • Provide professional support to customers, including on-site sales support, investigation, and problem-solving services for quality.
    • Coordinate with customers to verify product performance acceptability and gather information for potential innovation and improvement.
    • Support product development, use innovative products, and review project specifications before the submission process.
  • Human Resources
    • Hire, train, evaluate, and develop quality control technicians for the site under their responsibility.
    • Accompany direct subordinates, in accordance with Lafarge's performance evaluation system.
    • Manage daily activities of technical personnel (quality control technicians) - Track raw materials and their consistency, strategic sampling plans, plant and site testing activities, product support, and problem-solving related to products.
  • Financial Responsibilities
    • Minimize potential quality-related claim costs.
    • Ensure the efficient use of resources and optimize costs, if possible.
  • Relationships with Other Positions
    • Liaise with operational and sales personnel.
    • Communicate product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Minimize or utilize alternative products.
    • Analyze primary causes of deviations and report quality incidents.
    • Support mining projects.
    • Support commercial and operational strategies.
    • Resolve quality-related product problems/customer service.
    • Liaise with regional quality assurance and market sector teams, as well as property management groups.
    • Take initiative on quality safety.
    • Innovate (products).
    • Plan and optimize reserves.
    • Develop and implement quality programs.
    Requirements
    • Education and Work Experience
      • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (DEC) or equivalent.
      • University degree in Engineering (eligible for Engineer designation).
      • Five to eight years of experience in asphalt quality control and its components.
    • Knowledge and Skills
