Flight Instructor Job Description

Vancouver Aviation College Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Instructor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fly fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters and instruct student pilots in procedures and techniques of flying aircraft and in ground-school subjects such as navigation, radio procedures, and flying regulations.
  • Monitor the operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight and conduct in-flight tests to ensure the functioning of aircraft equipment and systems.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections of aircraft and check passenger and cargo distribution to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met.
  • Communicate with flight dispatchers, weather forecasters, and control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and other information.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare flight evaluation reports.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing
  • Transport Canada flight instructor rating
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail
  • 20/20 vision and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to distinguish between colours
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a commercial aviation environment, outdoors, at heights, and in noisy conditions.

Experience:

1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.

Language:

The primary language of work is English.

Work Hours:

35 hours per week.
