Lead Environment Artist

We are seeking an experienced Environment Artist to lead our team in delivering high-quality environments for our games. As a Lead Environment Artist, you will be responsible for guiding artists, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring the delivery of environments that meet our quality standards.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Art Directors to support Environment artists in delivering environments to quality and focusing on the bigger picture.
- Guide artists and collaborate with project managers to determine budget, project scope, and deadlines.
- Support artists on their team in their long-term development and day-to-day work.
- Hold regular 1on1s with team members, mentoring, giving feedback, and guiding careers.
- Refine and review environments delivered from external sources and bring them up to quality standards.
- Collaborate with leads across disciplines to create environments that meet tech requirements and game design.
- Delegate tasks where necessary and nurture a sense of ownership within the team.
- Work with external/remote teams, including usability partners, and communicate the vision consistently.
- Improve production processes with stakeholders and clarify them to the team.
- At least 3+ years of experience leading an environment art team.
- Shipped 1 or more AAA games on multiple platforms.
- Artistic eye with the ability to get the best out of artists through feedback and support.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a propensity for building relationships across seniority levels.
- Capability in backlog and time management, organization skills, and scoping to deadlines and constraints.
- Ability to manage the team's workload through planning and delegation.
- Experience in environment art workflows, including asset placement and production, level creation, photogrammetry, and PBR texturing.
- Solid understanding of environment aesthetics, function vs. form relationships, and what makes a game level fun and intriguing.
- Thorough understanding of architecture and nature.
- Proficient knowledge of Maya, Substance painter, and/or other 2D/3D software packages.
- Deep knowledge of environment production process with an interest in collaborating with stakeholders to improve the way we work.
