About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our Product Development team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving reliability improvement programs and managing field service metrics to support data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement reliability improvement programs using field service data to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and distribute field service metrics and data to support data-driven decision making and prioritization within the organization.
  • Provide technical support for site root cause analysis efforts by initiating and participating in meetings and following up on action items.
  • Advise and mentor various engineering groups on the application of reliability principles to develop and enhance products.
  • Assure that reliability principles are utilized to develop and enhance products that are robust, safe, and effective.
  • Champion the creation of reliability plans and drive execution to demonstrate reliability and improve risk mitigation.
  • Implement and champion the use of FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System) throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the development of preventive maintenance plans for customers.
  • Analyze and present product information utilizing statistical techniques.
  • Verify and assess new product testing plans, including function and reliability testing against related standards and policies.
  • Oversee data analytics for commissioning and field service reports to identify emerging and high-risk failures and drive projects for improvement.
  • Develop robust working relationships with Mission Critical Services to drive improvements and maximize revenue.
  • Mentor field service technicians to improve data collection for root cause analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other related technical discipline.
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) with ASQ (American Society for Quality) or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA) or equivalent.
  • 10+ years' experience within a reliability engineering and new product development.
  • Experience in establishing reliability engineering principles within organizations.
  • Solid experience in Accelerated Life Testing and Reliability Demonstration Testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Six Sigma tools (FMEAs, Gauge R&R, Capability Analysis, Statistical Process Control), Design of Experiments.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize reliability and statistical tools (life data analysis Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++, JPM, etc.).
  • Ability to work/influence team across a matrixed organization on courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
  • Effectively operate within cross-functional teams.
  • Relentless curiosity and a desire to learn and implement new solutions with proven technical expertise.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple cultures/regions.
  • Exhibit a high-level of self-motivation, sense of urgency, and comfortability making recommendations across broad teams.
  • Ability to track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the JCI process.
  • Open to occasional business travel (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other related technical discipline.
  • Practical experience in Design for reliability.
  • Experience with a stage-gate product development process.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training, Green or Black Belt.
  • Familiarity with reading/Interpreting Engineering drawings and understanding GD&T, CAD software.
