Position Overview
Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to become an integral part of our Finance & Corporate Services division. This role is essential to our mission as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.
Role Responsibilities
The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) is responsible for overseeing the Finance business partner function, which includes supporting both annual planning and ongoing financial management. This position requires collaboration with the Director of Strategic Financial Management for long-term financial planning and strategic investment analysis, ensuring seamless integration and an excellent internal customer experience. Furthermore, the Director will work closely with the Director of Financial Reporting and Services to deliver financial information for board, committee, and executive management reporting.
The Director will also represent finance in the Management Business Review (MBR) and participate in the Executive Business Review (EBR) to support in-year financial performance assessments, partnering with various directors to manage corporate portfolio reporting during EBR and Executive Management Team (EMT) meetings. Overall, the Director, FPA is responsible for fostering strong collaboration across teams, providing critical insights to the CBS Financial Authority Framework.

- Ensure effective resource allocation, equipping employees with the necessary tools to meet objectives, and managing annual budgets and financial resources.
- Identify key areas of financial risk and provide transparent information to support decision-making with senior leadership, while collaborating to create actionable opportunities for efficiency.
- Commit to optimizing financial tools and processes to enhance the effectiveness of the FPA and the broader finance organization.
- Analyze and provide solutions to challenges related to financial policies and procedures, establishing a framework for budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Build and maintain relationships with Finance managers and colleagues to support key performance, reporting, and forecasting processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Preferably holds a CA, CGA, or CMA designation.
- Equivalent experience in managing a similar function will be considered.
- At least six years of progressive management experience in a financial environment at a senior level.
- Knowledge of regulated industry standards and familiarity with ISO 9000, TQM, cGMP, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in financial modeling and analysis.
- Understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Experience in financial planning and RFP development.
