The Annapolis Valley Region is currently seeking a permanent full-time certified Geriatrician to enhance the senior care team in the area. This role involves working alongside a dedicated interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, social workers, administrative personnel, and a program manager. The successful candidate will become part of a developing geriatric team within the Western Zone, playing a crucial clinical role while collaborating with family physicians and medical specialists through a shared-care model.
Candidates must hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or an equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine. Preference will be given to those with extensive experience in geriatric medicine. Applicants must be eligible for specialty licensure in Nova Scotia and should be capable of independently commuting to various care settings, including hospitals, homes, long-term care facilities, and assisted living residences. The physician will work closely with the senior care team to provide comprehensive care.

- Deliver full scope of practice as both an internist and geriatrician

- Offer support to your primary site as well as others in the Western Zone, which may involve traveling clinics
- Report to the Zone Department Head for Internal Medicine regarding professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- Adhere to the Medical Staff Bylaws of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Full-time position
- On-call requirements will be determined based on community needs
- Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Eligibility for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
