Position Overview
IBI Group is seeking a Senior Rail and Transit Engineering Manager to be part of our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA). This role offers flexibility in terms of location, as it can be fulfilled from any of our operational offices.
The Senior Rail and Transit Engineering Manager is a pivotal position responsible for leading and providing specialized knowledge in rail and multi-modal transit engineering sectors. The individual will manage and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring the effective execution of projects related to rail and transit infrastructure. This role encompasses project oversight, technical guidance, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders to achieve superior and efficient results.
In this capacity, you will be instrumental in steering and managing the rail and transit discipline. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the successful execution of projects and offering technical insights in rail and transit engineering. Moreover, you will enhance our practice by focusing on service delivery and client satisfaction while ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills to secure new opportunities.
Your responsibilities will involve independent collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, overseeing a variety of projects, including extensive transit initiatives. These projects may include infrastructure developments such as new or upgraded tunnels, tracks, stations, signaling systems, utilities, bridges, and integrated systems.
Beyond your technical acumen and project management skills, you will lead business development and client engagement efforts, further solidifying our footprint in the rail and transit domain.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Development: Provide effective leadership to the rail and transit engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Project Oversight: Manage the planning, design, and execution of rail and transit projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Work closely with project managers to address any challenges that may arise. Technical Proficiency: Act as the subject matter expert in rail and transit engineering, keeping up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices. Project Delivery: Serve as a Design Lead or Technical Director on larger and/or strategic projects. Client Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their requirements and ensuring satisfaction. Team Mentorship: Guide and develop team members, promoting professional growth within the rail and transit discipline. Identify and recruit the right talent to build a robust and diverse team. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside other discipline leaders and departments to ensure the seamless integration of rail and transit components within larger projects. Compliance Assurance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards in the rail and transit sector.Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline. Extensive experience (15 years) in rail and transit engineering. Proven experience in project management and team leadership. Comprehensive knowledge of multi-modal transportation design standards and regulations. Ability to cultivate and maintain client relationships. Experience in business development and proposal preparation.Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or relevant certifications preferred.Additional Information
