Job Summary:

Procor Limited is seeking a skilled Railcar Repair Technician/Welder to join our team at our repair facility in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to railcar repair and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs involving cutting and welding on rail bodies, including tanks and hoppers, and other car components
  • Conduct air arc gouging and prepare documentation for completion of railcar repairs in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Perform necessary repairs to hopper, tank railcars, and their components, including interior linings, light and medium-duty mechanical repairs, coupler servicing, changing out loading valves, airbrake testing, railcar bubble leak testing, etc.
  • Inbound railcar inspections as required
  • Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures
  • Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment
  • Ability to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work write-ups, and other paper and computer work
  • Prior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an asset
  • Ability to perform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standards
  • Adherence to both customer site and Procor's health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise
  • Ability to work while wearing respiratory protection
  • WHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commodities
  • Ability to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumes
  • Confined space entry to repair hopper car linings
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team
  • Demonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all times
  • Valid driver's license required and reliable transportation to get to and from work
