Key Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain exemplary standards for design practices, methodologies, and documentation, ensuring efficient onboarding and resource allocation for designers.
- Oversee and relay the progress of design objectives, documentation, and execution across all project features to both leadership and team members.
- Collaborate with Game Design Directors, Production, and Development Directors to effectively manage designer roles, capacity, and overall productivity.
- Cultivate communication and relationships with partner teams and various disciplines to ensure alignment and synergy.
- Manage design communication platforms, including status updates, team wellness reports, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Work closely with game design personnel, offering guidance and constructive feedback to navigate complex challenges in processes and team dynamics.
- Foster the professional growth of game designers through tailored development plans, one-on-one mentorship, training initiatives, and identifying opportunities for advancement.
- Advocate for a positive workplace culture that emphasizes diversity and inclusion in game design decisions, hiring practices, and mentorship approaches.
- Establish and nurture the creative environment of the team and studio in partnership with Game Design Leadership.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in game design within the gaming sector, including at least 3 years in a leadership or director capacity.
- Proficient in various development phases, from initial production to ongoing updates of live experiences.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and enhancing team operations.
- Familiarity with JIRA and its application in agile task management.
- Proven expertise in management, mentorship, and developing career progression plans with a track record of fostering professional growth.
- Knowledgeable in proprietary game design tools, implementation processes, and development environments.
- Create an engaging, fulfilling, and inclusive work atmosphere that values diversity.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing large teams.
- Background in Production or Project Management roles.
- Involvement in AAA HD or mobile cross-platform titles.
- Experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Exposure to various aspects of game design, such as Level, Narrative, and Systems.
- Collaboration with research teams and product management to design tests and analyze data for design enhancement.
- Design experience in games emphasizing open-ended player creativity and complex interconnected systems.
