Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items for all diets in quantities as specified on production sheets.
  • Follow all guidelines pertaining to Cook Chill production and maintain ingredient and portion control as per standardized recipes.
  • Supervise and replace dietary staff in the absence of the Food Services Manager or designate.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds utilizing appropriate lifting techniques.
Requirements
  • Grade XII education.
  • English-as-a-Additional Language (EAL) Level 6 required. Must successfully complete a prescribed skills test.
  • Certificate from a recognized cooking school, or two years experience with excellent references working as a Cook / relief Cook in the Simkin Centre.
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience in a cook chill production environment.
