Role Overview

The Investment Operations team supports various credit instrument investment teams in managing operations, asset services, investment accounting, reporting, and valuations. We are seeking an analyst to assist with the daily accounting and oversight of private company credit instrument investment portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist daily investment operations by verifying order ticket accuracy and accounting entries, maintaining comprehensive supporting documentation, validating transaction amounts, and ensuring proper authorizations for investment transactions
  • Support funding operations for various credit instrument investments and facilitate timely settlement of term loans
  • Help produce various reports and reconciliations efficiently and accurately related to comparative analysis, portfolio holdings, and profit and loss
  • Participate in the timely generation of reports on holdings, profit and loss, and performance to ensure accuracy and completeness, providing valuable insights and feedback
  • Engage in the daily pricing process for direct credit instrument investments as well as intellectual property and credit instrument investments
  • Ensure thorough analysis of operational or business issues and lead the resolution of corrective actions; promptly escalate any unusual activities or issues
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal investment staff and external asset managers to discuss and resolve issues while ensuring financial controls and information requirements are met
  • Establish a reputation as a specialist in private investments for investment operations and accounting matters
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with information requirements and address discrepancies when exceptions occur
  • Consistently strive for execution excellence; seek opportunities to simplify processes, enhance operational efficiencies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, robust controls, and data integrity
  • Keep documentation of processes current
  • Effectively manage workload priorities to meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field
  • Business Valuation Expert, Chartered Financial Analyst, or Chartered Accountant designation is a plus
  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage unknown elements
  • Excellent understanding of credit instruments and investment accounting
  • Strong analytical, finance, and management accounting skills
  • Proficient in Excel and capable of learning new systems
  • A collaborative team player with a desire to thrive in a high-performance culture and adaptability to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and guide a high-performance team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of organizational awareness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Exceptional ability to manage priorities and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
