Job Title: Dispatcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Dispatcher to join our team at Lineage Logistics. As a Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of shipments.
  • Manage inbound shipment ETAs to maximize efficiency and meet customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to determine equipment requirements and schedules.
  • Develop efficient routing patterns to meet required schedules.
  • Ensure all documentation relating to the movement of orders or shipments is completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicate with drivers to ensure they are operating in the most safe and effective manner.
  • Coordinate team member and resource allocation for daily pick-up and delivery of freight.
  • Ensure appropriate driver resource is sent to each call based on current location, truck size, capacity, schedule, and shipment type.
  • Monitor and report on driver locations to assign next pickup according to proximity.
  • Collect, audit, track, and file internal paperwork from drivers.
  • Communicate with the dock and central line haul dispatch regarding shipments that will be arriving late or not according to schedule.
  • Provide a daily exceptions report to Supervisor, Dispatch, showing all on-time and late departures.
  • Recommend continuous improvement efforts and identify cost-saving and growth initiatives.
  • Answer inbound phone calls relating to line haul delays, driver check-in, hours of service, and carrier check-ins.
  • Provide vacation and sick coverage for dispatch functions.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years' experience working in an FTL & LTL transportation environment in a planning or dispatch role.
  • Scheduling or customer service experience.
  • Experience working with company drivers, owner operators, and third-party carriers.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Excellent customer service abilities with a natural desire to provide exceptional service and build strong relationships with drivers.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment to ensure accuracy, compliance, and a team culture of excellence.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement and ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and enhance results.
  • Approachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team-oriented work style.
  • Knowledge of the logistics, supply chain, and/or transportation industry preferred.
  • Commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Takes initiative, is proactive in their work, and results-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of labor management, transportation, financial, and other key technologies.
